Incident/Extent of Damage:
In June of 2001, Tropical Storm Allison caused tremendous flooding in southeast Texas, concentrated mostly in the Houston area. In total, the storm brought nearly 37 inches of rain to the area in less than 48 hours. Allison was one of the costliest of tropical storms in the United States, causing damages in excess of $5 billion nationally.
Universal Restoration Services Solution:
Universal Restoration Services worked with the University Facilities Planning and Construction Division to restore over 85% of the water-damaged buildings on campus. As part of the restoration effort, Universal Restoration Services cleaned and decontaminated the structures and their contents to insure a healthy environment for the students and faculty.
Completion Date:
Universal Restoration Services met all expectations in completing the project, working within the timelines set forth by the University contractors.
Client Benefit:
Tropical Storm Allison damaged over 85% of the campus and surrounding buildings, including the Child Care Center, the Wortham Theater and the Hilton Hotel. Through coordinated communication and experienced workmanship, Universal Restoration Services was able to help restore the campus back to normalcy in the timeframe set forth by the University.
